The Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) has reaffirmed its commitment to investing in the future of the Namibian child through a sponsorship to the Namibia National Children’s Heart Trust. The handover, which took place at Windhoek Central Hospital’s Paediatrics Ward, underscores the Bank’s dedication to building a healthier nation through sustainable and impactful investments in healthcare.
As part of this initiative, DBN donated N$100,000 to support the training of Namibian nurses under the University of Cape Town’s paediatric cardiac programme and to contribute towards essential equipment for the newly renovated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Windhoek Central Hospital.
Speaking at the handover, Di-Anna Grobler (Manager: Stakeholder Relations & Client Support) emphasised that DBN’s involvement extends beyond financial support.
“At DBN, we believe that sustainable development begins with investing in people, and that means investing in the health, education, and well-being of our children. Our contribution to the Namibia National Children’s Heart Trust is not just a sponsorship; it’s an investment in the heartbeat of our nation’s future,” she said.
She further commended Dr. Fenni Shidhika, Founder of the Namibia Children’s Heart Trust and a paediatric cardiologist at Windhoek Central Hospital, for her leadership and dedication to strengthening cardiac care for Namibian children.
“Through partnerships like these, we are helping to nurture a generation that can grow, learn, and lead with strength and hope,” Grobler added.
This initiative forms part of DBN’s broader commitment as a responsible corporate citizen to foster Namibia’s socio-economic development. From education to healthcare and entrepreneurship, DBN continues to play an active role in building a resilient and inclusive future for all Namibians.
